10 Things I discovered In 2020

December is usually a time of reflection on the year gone by and although we can all agree that 2020 has been the most unusual yet, I’ve used that to my advantage. “20 things I discovered in 2020” is a great title for a blog, but if I’m being honest, I couldn’t think of 20. I didn’t discover 20 new things, but 10 yes, so here we go…

  1. Hamilton – Happy or sad, the Hamilton soundtrack brings joy to my day. I love musicals so I cant wait for us to be able to visit theatres again. This has quickly become one of my favourite shows and I love watching the live recording on Disney+.
  2. Resin – One evening I was scrolling TikTok and kept coming across artists using resin. I was desperate to try this new craft and started using it to make coasters, trays, Christmas decorations and more. It’s incredibly messy but you can produce some wonderful creations out of the liquid to solid material.
  3. Knitting – It’s not something I’ve ever considered before, but decided that it would be easy enough to give it a go. I’ve now made 3 scarves to date, and its a surprisingly therapeutic and easy hobby to get into.
  4. A new gym routine – Since the gym reopened in August, I’ve started a new routing of Body Pump 3 times a week, Spin twice a week and yoga once a week with various gym visits in between. This new routine has done so much for me and I love it (when we’re not in lockdown).
  5. Tacos – Believe it or not, I’d never had a taco until Taco Bell turned up a stone’s throw away from our office in Cardiff. Now, I’m a huge fan and make them a lot at home.

6. Blogging – This isn’t a new one for me but it’s a hobby I re-discovered this year. After being too busy and lacking inspiration for a while, 2020 gave me some time to get back into blogging. I was even nominated for an award for one of my pieces.

7. Jane’s Patisserie & Fit Waffle Kitchen – If you’re not following these accounts online then you need to! I’ve discovered some amazing (not very healthy) recipes from brownies, cookies, cakes and Biscoff cups. Check them both out on Facebook and Instagram for some truly amazing recipes.

8. Challenges are good for you – This year I set myself some major milestones that I’m really proud to have achieved with flying colours. I don’t feel the need to share all of my personal achievements over the past few months, but I’m really proud of everything I’ve achieved this year.

9. Bridgerton – After some much appreciated time off from work, I’ve binge-watched this period drama alternative to Gossip Girl ASAP. It’s one of the best shows of the year and I’d highly recommend. (Streaming on a Netflix)

10. I’m proud of myself – This year has been really tough for everyone. I definitely struggled at the start of lockdown, like everyone. But trying to work at home as normal everyday while everything was not normal was hard and I don’t think many people realised ‘keeping calm and carrying on’ wasn’t really possible. It has been a very strange year to adjust to, but spending extra time at home has uncovered new and old joys. I’ve reignited my love for working out, cooking, creating, and have met some big goals. I can’t wait for an exciting, positive 2021.
