August favourites

It’s the end of the month which means it’s time for a favourites blog post to go up! I seem to have skipped ‘July’s favourites’ but I can assure you it would have gone something like this: wine, chocolate, nice people, fun stuff etc etc etc.

I feel like August has been an extremely long month for me, I’ve been waiting and to finally go on holiday, waiting for events to come around the corner and spent a big chunk of time with my favourite people. Now the month is over and done with, a new school year is around the corner for most and the end of the summer means us wanting to pack things away. So, here are some things I won’t be getting rid of in the month to come, here are my August faves…

Gym gym gym gym gym gym gym

I’m obsessed. I love hitting the gym 5-6 times a week. Right now my gym is undergoing a major upgrade-refurbishment so the equipment has been moved and a makeshift gym has been set up in one of the dance studios. This has forced me to switch up my gym sessions, get creative and try some new routines. I’m really obsessed with the bike and I make sure I dedicate a lot of time to that, but that means being very sweaty. I’m okay with that though, to me it’s the sign of a good workout. I’d be embarrassed if I wasn’t walking out of the gym with wet hair, a red face and sweat patches down my back!

Summer sun

I went to Lanzarote with one of my best friends on 15th August and we had such a great time. The weather was sheer perfection at 31 degrees everyday. Our choice of hotel was phenomenal and an all inclusive trip was the perfect choice too. Feeling like you’re eating and drinking free wine and pizza every day is a great feeling I assure you. It’s given me the holiday bug though, and I’m already keen to book another holiday asap!

Blogging

I really love writing, but sometimes you have to be in the right frame of mind and feel ready to get carried away with words. Before my holiday I hardly wrote, but now I’m back home I’m into it again. I keep my blog running just as a hobby, but I also think it’s a great thing to have so potential employers can read about you and check out your style, your knowledge and whatever else the find!

Music

Music is something I don’t think I could live without. But recently there have been some chart songs that I’m just loving. I’ll leave a list below:

Walk on water – Thirty seconds to Mars

I am SO happy these guys are back, people may be surprised but this is my all time favourite band.

Sorry not sorry & Tell me you love Me – Demi Lovato

I will forever love Demi Lovato, don’t ask me why I’ve just always been a major fan, I’m so keen for her new album to be released at the end of September.

What about us – P!nk

Absolute legend of a lady. So glad she’s back. There is nothing more to say.

P.s her VMA’s speech to her daughter was amazeballs

Praying -Kesha

It’s a sad song, but so powerful.

New rules – Dua Lipa

I love the song and the video is pure genius. It’s also a perfect song to belt out full volume whilst your driving down the motorway, I plan to be singing this particular tune among others on my travels to Swindon this Saturday. Watch it here

Liz Earle staples

I recently ran out of my skin care saviours; the Liz Earle cleanse and polish, instant boost skin tonic and light moisturiser too. Isn’t it THE WORST when everything runs out at once? Luckily I now have my favourite products back in stock and my skin is happy to see them.

Barry M quick dry polish

I’ve been loving this pink colour, called Freestyle I’ve been wearing for the past few weeks. It’s not too pink and dries literally in seconds. I’ve even been complimented on it a few times!

Amy Schumer’s book

This was my first choice for summer reading on holibobs. Hilarious, honest, serious and intriguing. She tells snippets from her life sometimes in immense, over the edge detail, the book isn’t necessarily a linear novel and I love it. I loooove it. I read it in 3 days, suggested it to a friend and she couldn’t put it down either!

Outdoor Cinemas

This month I visited the Open air cinema in Barry Island. One of the best parts about it was that the event was free to the public. You bring your own chairs, set them up and wait for the film to start, simple as that. The movie we went to see Beauty and the Beast (2017) and I enjoyed it so much. The outdoor theatre was packed with chairs, blankets a lot of people and dogs too. We found our perfect spot, set up our camp chairs and wandered off to get sausage in batter and chips to eat right in front of the cinema screen, on the water front. I enjoyed the film, and the experience so much. Keep an eye out on Facebook for events like this, I’d highly recommend everyone experience and outdoor cinema!
